About The Role

Peraton is seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our team in King George, VA supporting the Combat System Simulation Development (CSSD) program. CSSD develops real-time, high fidelity modeling and simulation software systems to support Combat System development, Combat System certification, and Combat System training for the Navy. The team is based out of King George, VA but this role can be supported in a hybrid model with 75% remote and 25% on site, and can vary based on tasking. Integration testing of CSSD software solutions is conducted in Navy Land Based Test Sites (LBTS) that look and feel like real Navy ship command and control centers. As a result, CSSD team members also learn how pertinent Navy combat systems operate in order to perform software integration testing with real tactical components.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures software standards are met.
  • Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.

Qualifications

What you will need:

  • BS/BA with 2 years experience, 0 years with a MS/MA, or  6 years experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of C/C++ and/or Java software application development
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software that contain logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills in a customer focused environment
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing computer program development and tracking tools
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing requirements, designing and developing software solutions, conducting periodic reviews of design and development artifacts, and establishing test methodologies and criteria
  • Must be local to the King George, VA area as integration testing of solutions is required at the Navy Facility (25% on site hybrid)
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and concepts

  • Demonstrated ability to learn how an existing system works in order to model, simulate, or stimulate the system through software solutions
  • System level knowledge and understanding of Naval Combat Systems such as the Navy Aegis Weapons System 

SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
