Job Description

Our client, a real estate investment firm with a large portfolio of luxury multifamily properties, is seeking a strong Senior Property Accountant. The position offers significant opportunity for growth and a largely remote work schedule (employees report to the office approximately once per month).

Responsibilities Include:

• Oversee accounting duties for a portfolio of multifamily properties in NYC and across the country
• Prepare accrual financials for assigned portfolio
• Analyze the general ledger for each property, prepare journal entries, calculate accruals and adjustments and maintain detailed workpaper files on a monthly basis
• Review results of operations and provide detailed explanations of variances
• Review invoices to ensure correct account coding and expense allocations
• Prepare reconciliations of all cash accounts, reserves and escrows
• Monitor cash balances and request capital funding, as needed
• Interact with asset managers, leasing agents, and property managers
• Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with accounts receivable and legal departments
• Ensure lender reporting compliance
• Respond to lender inquiries, as needed
• Compile financial information for analysts during debt refinances and/or sales of properties
• Prepare annual budget and reforecast
• Serve as the main contact for annual audits and tax return preparation

Requirements Include:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Background in public accounting or private industry within the real estate industry
• Knowledge of Yardi, MRI or similar software is preferred
• Strong organizational and communication skills
