On April 1st, 2022 Amazon workers at the JFK8 facility in Staten Island made history by becoming the first facility to win a union vote against one of the richest, most anti-union corporations in the world. In December 2024 thousands of Amazon workers across the nation took part in a historic Unfair Labor Practice Strike protesting Amazon’s illegal refusal to recognize and bargain with union members. Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1 is looking for apprentices ready to join the fight to win a contract and build our union.
This Apprenticeship will help you develop organizing skills through group and one-on-one mentorship, training on organizing strategy and direct outreach with workers. Strong emphasis will be placed on field work. Apprentices will also have the opportunity to learn about and potentially support other aspects of the union including communications, grievances, data systems, and more.
No experience is needed, just a willingness to listen and learn and the fighting spirit to take on one of the world’s largest corporations. Hourly wage is between $20 – $24/hr.
Candidates must be willing to commute to Staten Island, ideally should have a car, and be willing to work long hours. The apprenticeship is full time to start but can be adjusted to part time after the initial onboarding process.
